Designed for a purpose
For our senior project, my group set out to build a device that would improve water safety. Over 80% of drowning victims do not wear life jackets, so we set out to make a life jacket belt that people would want to wear.
How it works
​
The device will activate at a depth of 5 feet below water through hyper-elastic "activation sensor".
Here is a screenshot of the sensor stretching when a 2.3psi pressure is applied.
